Raised by semi-pro athletes who became entrepreneurs when the USSR collapsed, I’ve made a skill out of their life’s lesson: succeed with minimal resources by quickly adapting to a new international context.

 

After years of putting that into practice in a variety of roles enabling international customer interactions, I led localisation at ClassPass to unlock the fastest global expansion its leadership had ever seen. 

 

Since then, my mission has been to demystify localisation and make it easy for everyone involved.

I’m yet to figure out why localisation is so often seen as a translation-related process or service that requires linguistic expertise.

I’m a management consultant who has built a business from the ground up and advised leaders of all kinds of companies – from early-stage startups to global tech giants.

I’ve managed localisation as an organisational change initiative (and, unlike most language experts, received training in change management).

I’ve positioned localisation as a key buying criteria for multinationals and a differentiator for a company that has been doing localisation for decades with an army of experts.

​

I studied localisation as part of corporate strategy during my MBA and I teach it on a master’s programme. 

​

Previously, I was a cross-cultural marketing consultant and a translator from Sanskrit (like those who pioneered “transcreation” before ad agencies made a thing out of it).
